Beauty lacks diversity in top level roles

Nearly half of beauty businesses have no ethnic representation on their Board and 51% have no employees from an ethnic minority on their Executive Committee, new study discovers

Beauty businesses are lacking diversity in top level roles, a first of its kind study has found.

The report – collated by industry experts, CEW UK, MBS Group and ScienceMagic – showed that UK beauty companies are prioritising diversity ahead of other industries, but only in low level jobs.

Ethnic minorities make up almost 20% of the UK’s beauty industry – higher than the average working age population (12.5%).

But Executive Committee and Board numbers are significantly lower.
