Benefit unveils talking lips video generator

Published: 9-Feb-2017

The Real Full Lips video creator will allow consumers to create their own customised videos in 17 different languages

LVMH-owned cosmetics brand Benefit has launched its Real Full Lips video generator on its app and website.

The debut coincides with the launch of the colour brand’s new They’re Real! Double the Lip product, which features eight shades of the liner lipstick combo.

The digital generator is interactive and gives users the chance to create a short video featuring a moving pair of lips. Users can select one of the eight lip colours, then a lip movement.

The generator then asks them to type in a word or phrase of up to 250 characters that they want the lips to say or select one of the pre-determined phrases, before choosing a voice from four options. These include Leah Shirley, Ingrid or Humphrey.

The video then presents the final result, with a short video showing the lips moving and speaking. Users are brought to a page where they can then download or share the finished clip on their social media channels using #getREALlips.

Each video can be customised in 15 languages and 17 accents.

Benefit said it created the Real Full Lips generator as a way for consumers to express themselves. Lisa Goodfriend, Benefit's Global Digital Creative Director, said: “Instead of burning bras, today’s woman is showing her fierceness by embracing bold lips and smoky eyes. She feels more empowered to speak her mind.”

The Real Full Lips video generator is available from 1 February until 31 May via benefitcosmetics.com/real-full-lips.
