What is BioDTox?

Everyday people are exposed to chemicals – pollutants, smoke, drugs and cosmetics – from the living environment. Human body recognizes these chemicals as toxins that can cause toxic effects such as tissue damage, oxidative stress, mutation and aging. To prevent this serial event, BioDTox has been developed as a skin detoxifier from a mixture of Bioflavonoids, Broccoli and Aloe. BioDTox can act as both a detoxifying enzyme activator and a powerful anti-oxidant.

1) Bioflavonoids, also known as Vitamin P, cannot be produced in our body and must be supplied through the diet or topical use. Bioflavonoids are famous for its efficacy, especially strong anti-oxidative activity. Also it is known to have anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory effects.

2) Broccoli contains sulforaphane, as an active ingredient, which is a well-known activator of phase II detoxification enzymes. Sulforaphane enhances the resistance of skin cells against environmental pollutants and intrinsic reactive molecules.

3) Aloe is a good source of polyphenols that can be found in the peel of unripen aloe. These polyphenols can help in reversing or neutralizing harmful chemicals.

Clinical Study on Skin Detoxification Effect of BioDTox

A clinical study has been performed to evaluate skin cleansing effect of BioDTox on human skin (by DermaPro Skin Research Center, Korea). Total of 30 healthy subjects (average age; 30.0±8.8 years old) used a foam cleanser containing 2% BioDTox. Skin cleansing effect was evaluated by pore cleanliness, area and number of sebum spot, skin scale measurement at before treatment and after 20 minutes of treatment. The results showed that BioDTox can help effectively increase pore cleanliness (Figure 1) as well as decrease number of sebum spots (Figure 2) and dead cells (Figure 3).

Clinical Study on Skin Soothing Effect of BioDTox

To determine the skin soothing effect of BioDTox, TEWL (TransEpidermal Water Loss) and Erythema levels were measured. 1% aqueous solution of SDS was used to disturb skin barrier function, resulting in erythema. Patches (Fin Chamber, Finland) were wet with 1% SDS and with 1% SDS plus 2% BioDTox. These were applied on the surface of forearm in occlusion for 24 hours. The reading and measurement were performed in 4 and 24 hours after removing the patches. The results showed that BioDTox was effective for decrease of both TEWL (Figure 4) and erythema (Figure 5) levels, indicating skin soothing effect, and these effects were maintained up to 24 hours.

Figure 4. TEWL values (n=6; Age 28-42 years old) were measured after 1% SDS treatment by using TEWL meter. Test and placebo products were applied on the forearm for 24 hours. The reading and measurement were performed at 4 and 24 hours after removing the patch.

Figure 5. Erythema values (n=6; Age 28-42 years old) were measured after 1% SDS treatment by using Chromameter CR-300. Test and placebo products were applied on the forearm for 24 hours. The reading and measurement of erythema were performed at 4 and 24 hours after removing the patch.
