This month, US luxury cosmetics retailer Bluemercury will open two new outlets in New York City, at the corner of 88th Street and Madison Avenue and the corner of 92nd Street and Broadway.

The Madison Avenue location will occupy 1,705sqft and is the brand’s second location on the Upper East Side, while the Broadway site occupies a space that formerly housed a Korean delicatessen, K&S Market.

Bluemercury customers tend to be high earners with an annual income of $150,000 and above, and the stores stock high-end brands such as M-61 and Créme De La Mer. Other brands include Kiehl's and Trish McEvoy. Each outlet also has a spa offering skin and body care treatments.

The firm was founded in Georgetown, Washington, DC in 1999, by a couple - Marla Malcolm Beck, who acts as CEO, and Barry Jon Beck, who acts as COO - and now has around 50 stores nationwide. The founders say they plan to double the number of outlets by the end of 2015: the firm has already earmarked locations in Dallas, Texas, and Charlottesville, Virginia and in April opened a store in Seattle.
