Industry organisation the British Beauty Council has added a new member to its Executive Board.

Hairdresser Josh Wood, born in Barnsley, UK, and best known for his colouring expertise and celebrity customers, joins the team as Director.

During his career he has worked with female A-listers including Elle Macpherson, Laura Bailey, Kylie Minogue and January Jones.

His talents have also led him to tend to the coiffeurs of famous men including Mick Jagger and David Bowie.

Via the British Beauty Council’s Instagram feed, Wood said: “As a colourist, brand founder and business owner, I'm passionate about this world-leading, innovative and creative industry.

“Thanks to my 30-year career, I am fully aware of its power to make us all feel good and this is amplified for all to see in these current, challenging times.

“I am committed to working with the British Beauty Council to help support this industry as it moves forward and develop the exceptional talent it represents.”

In 2011 Wood established his own salon Josh Wood Atelier in Holland Park, London, and the following year opened his second in Liberty London.

He later collaborated with retailer Marks & Spencer to launch a collection of hair care and colour products.

Wood becomes the second member to be appointed to the British Beauty Council’s Executive Board in the last month.

Last month, Beautystack founder Sharmadean Reid also joined the organisation’s top team.

In the role, he will be working alongside founder and CEO Millie Kendall, Chairman Jane Boardman and CFO Ryan Woor, as well as fellow Directors Catherine Handcock, Gemma Bellman and Annie Murphy.
