Brussels threatens legal action over mixtures directive
France, Italy, Luxembourg and Slovenia have failed to update their chemical laws
The European Commission has formally asked France, Italy, Luxembourg and Slovenia to update their chemical laws to comply with the EU’s 2008 directive on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, which covers cosmetics. If they fail, Brussels may take their governments to the European Court of Justice. The law brings EU rules in line with the international United Nations Globally Harmonised System.
