The #BringBackTheBees campaign launched by the lip care brand will run across the UK, Germany and Korea

US lip care brand Burt’s Bees has launched a new campaign to help re-establish bees in the wild.

The #BringBackTheBees campaign is being run in partnership with the British Beekeepers Association and will roll-out in Germany, Korea and UK.

Burt’s Bees has pledged that for every limited edition Strawberry Lip Balm (£3.99) that is sold it will plant 5,000 bee-friendly wildflower seeds in selected areas to tempt bees back to their native areas.

Last year Burt’s Bees donated 192,852,000 wildflower seeds of 26 variations to the British Beekeepers Association through it’s campaign; planted together that would amount to four football stadiums.

Let’s bee clear

Since the late 1990’s, bee farmers have seen a significant reduction in bee populations, leading to a reduction in the amount of plants being pollinated.

Studies have deduced that insecticides are linked to the long-term decline of bee colonies in the UK, as well as the loss of habitat and lack of forage available to them.

Most flowering plants rely on bees to survive and there could be further damaging effects up the food chain.

For example, British-grown fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, pears, apricots and peaches all rely on pollination in order to regenerate.
