As part of a FTSE 100 plc, the pressure on the business and its people to deliver to budget year on year and grow consistently is ever present. It is with that at the forefront of the business strategy that the company is looking to further expand its commercial team with the addition of an energetic and driven Business Development Manager.
This opportunity carries no direct colleague report or existing customer account responsibilities but is a true, pure new business generation role.
The key objective of the role is to secure new clients for the business in targeted market segments including but not limited to the nutritional, health and beauty industries.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the candidate will be experienced in generating new opportunities, securing that business and successfully guiding relationships through to delivered orders.
Existing relationships that a candidate may have would be helpful in making their role a successful one and health and beauty (or comparable industry experience) is desirable.
The candidate must be self-motivated and eager to deliver. They must be able to form strong relationships and build trust with prospective clients through effective and honest communication.
A strong commercial awareness and an ability to pick the right opportunities for the business is essential.
Internal support will be available to ensure the smooth landing of projects brought into the business from within the current commercial team and associated disciplines through operations, quality, development and finance.
Training will be provided as to the company’s capabilities and ambitions and the Commercial Director will support and guide on appropriateness of opportunities as the candidate comes to understand the business.
Remuneration will include a benefits package, competitive salary and performance related bonus which will be available to the selected candidate appropriately based on their experience.
The role is based out of our Morecambe facility however there is flexibility dependent upon the candidate’s home location. The role will require regular UK travel, and potentially international business trips when necessary.
The candidate will be experienced to a minimum of A-Level or equivalent standard and experience in a proactive sales or business development role is a must.
A track record of true business development must be demonstrable and experience of working in a manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
The successful applicate will be a tenacious self-starter with a positive outlook and strong influencing and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, analytical and numeracy skills are must-haves while an ambition for leadership responsibilities would be valuable.
