Cordyceps sinensis combats age-related changes in gene expression, says study

A mushroom traditionally used as an anti-ager in China can combat age related changes in gene expression in muscle and brain tissue, according to a study from Nu Skin Enterprises Inc and LifeGen Technologies. Cordyceps sinesis (Cs-4) is said to re-set the youth genes that affect cellular mitochondria to behave in a more youthful expression pattern. Two additional laboratory studies by Nu Skin and LifeGen have identified Cs-4’s positive impact on a healthy lifespan due to positive benefits on energy, fatigue and endurance.

“We are making great breakthroughs in gene expression science that have application in the fields of health and longevity,” commented Joe Chang, Nu Skin’s chief scientific officer and executive vp of product development. “These studies help validate the critical role gene expression modulation plays in the ageing process. We believe that the future of anti-ageing is in developing consumer solutions that support youthful gene expression.”
