Cloudforest Peru SAC announces the launch of Amazon Silk facial serum, the only cosmetic product in the world that contains oil of a recently discovered nut found solely in the Amazon cloud forest of Peru.

The hero ingredient, Super Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia Huayllabambana), has been determined to be the single richest source of Omega 3s found anywhere in nature. It’s discovery has led to one of the more unique and potentially powerful stories in the world of cosmeceuticals.

Cloudforest Peru has collaborated with a collective of farmers in a remote part of the cloud forest, the only place in the world that this rare Inca nut can grow.

In addition to bringing this nut to light, Cloudforest Peru is dedicated to improving the rural community of Nueva Esperanza by sustainably harvesting the nut as well as through developing and supporting socially conscious programs that contribute to the improved living conditions for the community as well as for the Amazon cloud forest itself.

“It is well known that the rich ethnobotanical pharmacopeia of the Amazon is relatively untouched.” states Science Advisor Dr. David Hepburn, “Here, in nature’s greatest pharmacy, nature is food and food is medicine. We respect and admire the knowledge and abilities of those who live here.”

Omega 3s are a game changer for skincare. They improve skin barrier function, inhibit inflammation and skin “inflammaging”, reduce hyperpigmentation, attenuate dry skin and itchiness elicited by dermatitis, accelerate skin wound healing, and possibly even prevent skin cancer development.

“Omega 3 fatty acids help keep the outermost layer of our skin strong and healthy, and subsequently prevent moisture from escaping, while also helping to smooth the surface of the skin,” says Robyn Gmyrek, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Union Derm in New York City.

The benefits of Omega 3 for skin care is being championed by many key opinion leaders and celebrities. Victoria Beckham and Eva Mendes are advocates for Omega 3 rich foods. Mariah Carey goes so far as to only eat salmon and capers every single day.

Omega 3 supplementation would obviate the need for eating that amount of fish. Omega 3s are now being incorporated, as a key ingredient, into skincare by leading brands such as True Botanicals, Ren and Farmacy.

Cosmetic scientist Juan Carlos Salgado adds: “I am thrilled that we have formulated the most unique and effective cream that I have seen in 30 years as a cosmetic scientist. I am so proud to be part of this exciting, once in a lifetime project. These creams are remarkable and will make a difference to many.”

Cloudforest Peru SAC is a Peruvian cosmetic company based in Lima Peru. The Amazon Silk brand currently has six skin and haircare products using Super Sacha Inchi.
