Colour market grows 5.1% to reach $55bn

Multifunctionality in mature markets is helping drive growth

Maintaining a healthy hue in 2013, the colour cosmetics market increased by 5.1% to reach US$55.49bn, according to figures from Euromonitor International. The sector was buoyed by demand from consumers in both mature and emerging markets, as Euromonitor Senior Analyst Oru Mohiuddin explains. “We’re seeing two things in colour cosmetics,” she tells SPC. “In the emerging markets there is more penetration, while in developed markets there is an increase due to facial colour cosmetics, which is being boosted by multifunctional formats like BB creams.”
