Crabtree & Evelyn has revealed details about an installation it plans to unveil at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, due to run from 5-10 July in Surrey, UK.
The Botanical Studio Garden will feature planting schemes that are designed to create “a path of discovery and enchantment”, the brand noted, capturing the essence of perfume fields in Grasse, France.
Passers-by will be invited to enter the garden where they can look into the Still Room – a room traditionally used in a large house to store preserves, drinks and food – where they will be able to watch the perfumer’s art of creating fragrance live from floral and botanical ingredients.
Following this, they will be able to step into the Pavilion where they can test out fragrances and buy Crabtree & Evelyn products.
The Botanical Studio Garden was created in partnership with landscape architect Jade Goto. Goto said: "The opportunity to research Crabtree & Evelyn's heritage and then combine it with a contemporary twist made for a dream brief. The inspiration for the garden came from the concept of the still room, a room found in the great houses where garden plants were distilled to supply the house with fragrant waters and essential oils. We wanted to celebrate the single ingredient in its pure form and this evoked the perfume fields of Grasse, where a single species of plant will dominate the landscape as far as the eye can see and the nose can smell. Our aim is that the garden captures this visual and fragrant beauty, yet reconfigures it in a style that is both original and engaging.”
