The channel is responsible for 66% of sector revenues

According to the latest figures, direct selling remains a dominant channel for the fragrance market in Brazil. The channel is said to be responsible for 66% of sector revenues, according to a study conducted by Mintel Brazil in partnership with Ipsos Observer. Despite this, distribution franchises still have the highest rates of growth with the channel gaining 8% in revenue from 2007-11.

Among Brazil’s burgeoning middle class, the most popular channel for fragrance sales in June 2012 was found to be direct selling (56%), followed by distribution franchises (42%), perfumeries (23%), supermarkets (17%) and pharmacies (14%).

Direct selling was also most popular among 63% of working class shoppers, followed by supermarkets (25%), distribution franchises (23%), pharmacies (16%) and perfumeries (13%).
