‘Silicone technology drives innovation in cosmetics’


According to silicone specialist Dow Corning, silicone technology is playing an increasingly important role in the creation of better product formulas. The supplier’s latest product, a novel silicone flake resin, is said to allow formulators to create long-lasting, comfortable colour cosmetics, skin care and sun care products. Comprising two resins, the ingredient forms a flexible, durable, transfer-resistant film. “The new silicone resin helps colour cosmetics maintain a fresh look with enhanced colour intensity and shine,” comments Stuart Long, Dow Corning Skincare’s global marketing manager.

“Silicone technology is playing a more important role in helping manufacturers introduce new and better product formulas that can be worn longer, be more comfortable and offer greater options,” he continues. “The objective is to offer a combination of pleasing effects with multifunctional performance.”
