US silicone supplier Dow Corning has harnessed the latest advances in silicone technology to create its new CE-8411 Smooth Plus Emulsion, which is claimed to bring improved moisturisation benefits to shampoos and rinse-off hair conditioners.

"The result is a luxurious, moisturising feel plus much more, including intense shine and protection from colour fade," said Beth Johnson, global technology leader for hair care at Dow Corning.

"The new silicone emulsion has a distinctive moisturising effect, so when consumers run their fingers through their hair, they'll experience a smooth, silky, almost gliding sensation."

Along with offering the benefits associated with regular silicones such as smoothness, strength, flexibility, and ease of combing, the new emulsion is claimed to have the ability to anchor itself to hair strands to give its moisturising effects without weighing the hair down.
