The US$2,000 loans will generate over 7,000 jobs in the area

The Dow Chemical Company has partnered with Grameen America to help support 17 women-owned businesses in Los Angeles with a US$2,000 microloan.

The programme will help create or maintain nearly 7,350 jobs in low-income Los Angeles communities, according to the manufacturer, helping to boost income, build assets and create jobs.

As these loans are repaid, they will be recycled back into the programme to provide more loans to low-income women entrepreneurs.

Grameen America is a non-profit microfinance organisation which helps empower women who live in poverty to build small businesses to create better lives for themselves and their families.
