French niche perfume house Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle has created The Night, a special fragrance to mark the opening of the firm’s perfume counter at Bloomingdale’s Dubai.

Created by perfumer Dominique Ropion of International Flavors and Fragrances, it has notes of Indian oud, Turkish rose and amber, and the firm claims that the amount of natural oud used is ‘unprecedented’ in a fragrance.

"In this age of globalisation,” said Malle, “I believe that the time has come for a more accurate representation of the Orient. This is the essence of our latest project. My desire to seek out true Oriental scents has driven me to conduct numerous trips to the Middle East over the years, as well as to open an Editions de Parfums in Dubai. “As always with Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle, the retail price of this scent is proportionate to its cost."

The fragrance will cost the equivalent of $755 for 50ml and $850 for 100ml. Both the counter and the fragrance launched at the end of October: the fragrance will be exclusive to Bloomingdale’s Dubai.
