Evonik building new organics production facility in Shanghai

Plant is expected to be operational in 2013


Evonik has started construction on a new organics production facility in Shanghai, China, for the upper two digit million euro investment. Construction began this week and the ceremony was attended by more than 200 guests, including regional and global contacts of Evonik’s key customers, government officials, strategic partners and management and employees of the company itself.

Klaus Engel, chairman of Evonik's executive board, said at the opening ceremony: “With our decision to build this new organics production facility in Shanghai, we want to further develop our market position and fulfill our commitment to China, This investment is in line with our priority to expand our business in the emerging markets.”

The detailed engineering of the new facility is already completed and the plant is expected to be operational by 2013 and will primarily serve markets in China and Asia Pacific.
