The Villa Harmony centre in Shanghai will allow customers to discover traditional Chinese perfumery skills and ingredients to tap into the growing market

Firmenich is boosting its presence in China with the opening of a new fragrance studio focusing on the country's perfume heritage.

The new Villa Harmony space in Shanghai was launched in partnership with Xun Laboratory, a Chinese fragrance firm that specialises in local ingredients and techniques.

Customers will be able to explore co-creation opportunities, said Firmenich, including exhibitions and forum sessions, as well as expertise from Firmenich and Xun Laboratory on Chinese perfumery, local market preferences and consumer behaviour.

The partnership will also highlight unique fragrance ingredients that are native to China, drawing on the country’s olfactive history, according to the companies.
