2011 sales increases 5.8% in local currency terms

Firmenich has reported good sales growth for its financial year 2011, recording an increase in all geographical regions and across all business segments. Sales have increased 5.8% in local currency terms to CHF2.78bn. However this did represent a decline of 3.9% in Swiss Francs, its reporting currency.

Emerging markets posted the strongest growth led by the Asia Pacific region and China coupled with robust sales progression in western Europe. In November last year the group established an affiliate in China as a separate zone from Asia Pacific to provide the ‘adequate attention and necessary autonomy’ to meet its ambitious growth plans there.

The Firmenich group continues to invest approximately 10% of its annual turnover in innovation, including new ingredients and the continuous improvement of production processes. And as part of the company’s sustainability initiative, Firmenich gained a record 12 new third party certifications in safety, quality and environmental management and for the sixth consecutive year improved employee safety levels by 37%.
