Formula Botanica, the online organic formulation school, has enrolled its 10,000th student, following a surge in interest during the pandemic.

The UK-led educational platform reported that more than 1,000 new students signed up for its summer term enrolment in July.

The school has seen a 50% annual average rise of new students over the past three years, with the growth of the natural beauty sector attributed to the increase.

Accredited by the Open and Distance Learning Quality Council, courses include Organic Skincare Formulation, Beauty Brand Business Management and Natural Cosmetic Preservation.

Lorraine Dallmeier, CEO and owner of Formula Botanica, said the school had 300 students when she acquired the company in 2014.

"At that point, we were all pioneers in natural and organic formulation, and somewhat fringe to the mainstream cosmetics industry," she continued.

"Now, as we celebrate enrolling our 10,000th student, Formula Botanica has not only grown its own community of impassioned, natural cosmetic formulators, but also gained a crucial role as a valued partner engaged in fruitful, mutual debate with other sectors of the cosmetics industry.”

Alumni from Formula Botanica include Dominika Minarovic and Elsie Rutterford, the founders of 'clean' skin care brand BYBI Beauty and Canadian facial treatment specialist Okoko Cosmétiques.

To promote the 10,000th student mark, Formula Botanica has launched a competition offering a prospective student the opportunity to win a free course.

"Our students have always been our greatest advocates and we wanted to find a way to share our achievement with them," added Dallmeier.
