As we prepare to ease up on national restrictions you may be feeling anxious, stressing about socialising or suffering the effects of maskne and all these emotions will show on your skin. Royal facialist and founder of Heaven Skincare Deborah Mitchell shares her tips on looking after your complexion post-lockdown

Anxiety

You may not even realise that you’re feeling anxious about the brave new world but your complexion will know; it will feel dry and you may notice sore, red patches appear.

You need to be adding hydrating products to your daily routine, ones that give your thirsty skin a big beauty boost.

Try these: Dry skin issues can be exacerbated by daily grime and pollutants so remove them morning and night with Hydro Cleansing Milk, which contains delicate organic jojoba to balance and condition, while my calming Chamomile Desensitising Hydrogel is particularly good for soothing irritation. You can also boost your mood with my new Inner Bee-ing supplements.

Maskne breakout

You may decide to mask-up when you’re out and about or are still suffer the scarring left by months of wearing a face covering. When we wear a mask it traps bacteria around our nose and mouth and causes sensitivity issues, rashes and spots, as well as rosacea flare-ups.

Try these: You need to get you need to get rid of those dead skin cells and boost your skin’s immunity so exfoliation is key to clear pores and leave your complexion feeling healthy. Both my Bee Polish and Bee Peel extract toxins to resurface and even out tone. You can also try Willowbee Mask & Cleanse, designed specifically for those who suffer from acne and spot breakouts, rosacea and eczema.

Just feeling a bit bleugh

After 18 months of so many mixed emotions it’s no surprise you’re feeling a whole rollercoaster of emotions … one minute you’re delighted that you get to enjoy life to the full again, the next you’re worried about stepping out of the front door and you may also be struggling to sleep.

Try these: My Heaven Scent Body Spray is not a perfume as such; it’s an aura spray designed to lift your spirits and is used by Heaven’s therapists as our secret weapon to relax clients during salon treatments. When we are under stress, our energy levels drop far more than when we are feeling happy. This feel-good blend of ingredients helps calm your nerves and stops you from suffering a loss of energy. If lack of sleep is showing around your eyes, dab a little Nettle Eye Cream each morning and evening to beat bags and puffiness.

“My general feel-good advice would be don’t put yourself under too much pressure to socialise or get back to life as it was before if you’re not ready yet. If you don’t want a packed social diary then don’t be afraid to say no – that’s a great lesson we can all take out of lockdown. And believe me, your skin will thank you for it.”
