US firm Fusion Packaging, which designs, manufactures, and distributes luxury packaging for the beauty industry, is producing a Direct Effect collection of customizable tube-based direct applicators (16 mm and 19 mm in diameters, for 5 ml to 20 ml). The applicators feature roller applicators in ceramic, polypropylene and stainless steel. Product is distributed evenly to targeted areas of the face and body, and is can be used for creams, serums and cosmetics.

According to co-CEO Derek Harvey there is a “growing demand for direct application in the beauty market as consumers desire products that directly target specific areas.”

Fusion Packaging provides packaging for companies such as Mary Kay, Elizabeth Arden, Avon, Urban Decay, and Arbonne. The company will also provide the bottles for Shade Sunscreen’s new sunscreens. Shade chose Fusion's 50ml Eclipse airless design for its SPF 30+ Opaque and SPF 30+ Tinted products. To achieve the desired look, the bottles and overcaps were injected with a customised shade of grey, followed by a matte spray layer. The bottles have silver or gold UV metallised collars and hot-stamped brand logos; the ergonomic actuators are injected grey; and the back of the bottle features custom silkscreened decoration.

Eclipse is a polypropylene-based range with bottles ranging from 5ml to 100ml in four diameters. The firm has also just launched Haute, a sustainable polypropylene bottle in 30ml and 50ml; and Mod, a polypropylene design that comes in 10ml, 15ml and 30ml.
