Gemma Merna has been named the new Global Ambassador and face of British collagen skin care brand proto-col.
Merna, 31, who is best known for her role in UK soap Hollyoaks, is said to be one of a new wave of women turning their backs on Botox. According to UK-based company Proto-col, their collagen supplements - manufactured with collagen hydrolysate technology - replace the need for Botox by repairing and restoring levels of collagen within the body, leaving skin youthful and radiant.
Merna said: “There is a lot of pressure out there to use harsh and extreme beauty treatments, especially in my industry. Having a frozen face does not appeal, it would make it difficult to express emotions when playing a character and the thought of having needles in my face fills me with dread. I look after my skin very carefully with a strict cleansing and moisturising routine, and I take a daily proto-col collagen supplement. I would rather notox over botox any day.”
