In honour of the company’s 25th anniversary, HCT Group is giving back to the industry that has given so much to them. On August 18th, 2017 the company hosted a charity volleyball event that benefited two beauty industry related charities, Look Good Feel Better and Makeovers that Matter. Team A, The Wall represented Makeovers that Matter and Team B, The Volley Llamas represented Look Good Feel Better. While both charities received a generous donation, The Wall was able to bump, set and spike their way to victory winning a larger amount for the Makeovers that Matter foundation.
Team Captain of The Wall and Global Director of Engineering, Adrian Apodaca commented, “The charity volleyball game was a great experience, I was able to have lots of fun raising money for a cause that uses the things we create to actually change people’s lives.” Jeremy Wilson, Senior Industrial Designer and Team Captain of the Volley Llamas also commented, “I was excited to be a part of this event, Look Good Feel Better touches a special place in my heart and it felt good to play for an organisation that is actually making a difference. It’s great working for a company that cares so much about giving back to their industry and their community.”
Makeovers That Matter (MTM) was founded in 2012 by Michael John (MJ) Derricott. The focus of this organisation is to help female veterans women get back to work. MTM not only offers these women free hair, makeup and wardrobe counselling services to help them look interview ready, but the women have access to free counselling with an employment specialist who will help them to write resumes, teach them how to successfully interview for a potential position and learn about long term career opportunities as well as empowerment counselling to help instill the confidence they need to get back on their feet, because we believe makeovers work from the inside out.
Look Good Feel Better is dedicated to improving the quality of life and self-esteem of people undergoing cancer treatment. The program offers complimentary group, individual, and online sessions that teach beauty techniques to help people with cancer to face their diagnosis with greater confidence.
