London is home to a fifth of the top 15 department stores in the world, according to new data from findmycasino.com

Luxury London store Harrods is the most popular department store in the world.

According to new data from findmycasino.com, which scored 40 stores based on Google search volumes, Instagram hashtags and TikTok views, Harrods took the top spot with an average of 134,000 searches, making it the most Googled store; 1,513,825 Instagram hashtags (also in pole position); and 79,800,000 TikTok views.

Its overall popularity score based on these metrics was a perfect 10.00.

The department store is currently in the midst of a ‘takeover’ by Dior, which will run until 3 January 2023.

The Fabulous World of Dior has seen the façade of Harrods’ Brompton Road store adorned with a Dior installation by Italian artist Pietro Ruffo, combining a compass rose, stars and flowers, developed to ‘guide’ visitors along the store’s 44 window displays.

London-based competitor Selfridges came in second place with a score of 9.49, with New York’s Macy’s in third with a score of 9.31 and Galeries Lafayette (8.97) in fourth.

Macy’s beat off competition from fellow New York institutions Saks (fifth place), Bloomingdale’s (eighth) and Barneys (ninth).

The ‘king’ of TikTok was Liberty – in seventh position with a total score of 8.37 – which racked up 30,000,000,000 views.
