Acquisition of natural company Forte Brands announced

Healthzone Limited, the Australian natural products distributor, retailer and manufacturer of health, beauty and natural products, has announced the acquisition of Forte Brands. According to the agreement, Healthzone Ltd will acquire the majority shareholding of Forte Brands, a manufacturer of natural and organic skincare products. The deal is scheduled to complete prior to the 30 June 2011.

Forte Brands develops and markets natural and organic skincare under the brand names of Trelivings and Evodia, currently sold through major department stores David Jones and Myer as well as pharmacies, health and gift stores throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

"The acquisition of Forte Brands provides Healthzone with an increasing platform of well recognised quality natural skincare products and qualified, experienced people. This is a robust addition to our distribution business from which to develop further our existing high margin natural skincare brands of BOD and Natural Alternative into many new markets." said Peter Roach, executive chairman of Healthzone Limited.

In support of the strategy to convert low margin distributed products to high margin own brand products Healthzone is currently expanding the Healthy Life and Natural Alternative nutritional supplement ranges. The company announced that there are 42 new Healthy Life nutritional supplements and more than 50 new Natural Alternative nutritional supplements being launched in the first half of 2012 in local and expanding Asian markets. In addition, a new sports nutrition powder range of 12 products has also been completed.

Healthzone Limited also intends to open new stores and acquire independent and competitor branded stores to further enhance the company’s revenues growth.
