Nigerian cosmetics brand House of Tara has said it plans to set up 100 new stores throughout sub- Saharan Africa.


Nigerian cosmetics brand House of Tara has said it plans to set up 100 new stores throughout sub- Saharan Africa. The firm currently has 14 studios and ten make-up academies in Nigeria, with a strong focus on training and empowering young women. Its target consumer is young professionals and trendsetters and the firm has been selected by L’Oréal as the exclusive distributor for Maybelline in the country.

In 2014, said House of Tara CEO Tara Fela-Durotoye, it intends to open 20 new studios nationwide and develop a presence in other African countries such as South Africa, Kenya and Ghana. Planned locations for new stores include Asaba, Warri, Enugu, Uyo, Calabar, Akure, Ogbomosho, Bauchi, Jos, Abba and Makurdi, while training and distribution centres/empowerment centres are scheduled to be opened in Enugu and Asaba by the end of April.

The firm will also increase its skus from 128 to 177, including six Flawless Foundation shades, three HD Foundation shades, 20 lipsticks and lip stains, three concealers, a trio eyeshadow, two Dual Mineral Powder Foundations, seven shades of Extension Blush Palette, four CTP Foundations, a Silky Pressed Powder and accessories such as bags and brushes. To cope with the expansion, the firm has taken on 143 new beauty reps since 1 January this year.
