Ichimaru Pharcos introduces a new skin lightening theories “Suppression of Melanin transporter Kinesin” and “Discharge of Stagnant Melanin”, and launched the related new products CinderellaCare and KIWI Liquid B at the incosmetics Hamburg 2014.

Suppression of Melanin transporter Kinesin

The motor protein kinesin holds melanosome and carries it to the tips of cell’s dendrites by transporting through microtubules. Melanosome is then transferred on to keratinocytes, eventually darkening the skin.
Suppressing activities of the melanosome transporter kinesin prevents melanin from being transferred on to epidermal cells and become skin-lightening efficacy.

CinderellaCare has been confirmed to have an effect to reduce kinesin expression level in human melanocytes and decreased melanin content in human 3D skin model and decreased pigment spots on human skin.

Discharge of Stagnant Melanin

On the other hand, melanin generated in melanocytes is transferred to keratinocytes in the stratum spinosum, an outer layer of basal cells, and then discharged as keratinised cells by the skin’s turnover. However, basal cells sometimes absorb melanin due to excessive melanin production stimulation caused by UV rays or inflammation and remain in a deep part of the skin. Recently, accumulated melanin has been confirmed to be related to one of the causes of pigmented spots.

KIWI Liquid B has been confirmed to have an effect to promote the division of keratinocytes with stagnant melanin (melanin filled basal cells) and improved melanin index of skin and decreased pigment spots on human skin.

Those product may be considered as a new break through for skin whitening research and future product development.
