Illamasqua stands up for Munroe

Illamasqua said: "Munroe embodies diversity and individuality; she is not scared to be truly herself. But Munroe doesn’t just stop there. She speaks out about the issues that affect not just her but the rest of our generation, seeking to improve the society we live in. That is what makes her a true Illamasqua Ambassador."

The brand posted an Instagram story showing behind-the-scenes footage from a photoshoot carried out yesterday with Bergdorf, Rain Dove, Vicky Cain and Emmanual Adjaye.

It also posted a supportive Tweet in the days after Bergdorf was fired by L’Oréal for writing a divisive Facebook post on institutionalised racism in which she stated: “Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people.”

At the time, Illamasqua stated: “We are angered to hear that Munroe Bergdorf has been dropped from the L'Oréal True Match campaign. Illamasqua is a brand that stands proudly and unashamedly for diversity and equality.

“We don’t stand or accept any form of racism, but we also believe Munroe’s comments have been edited out of context by a certain media title (who we won’t bother naming) without telling a true story.”

The British make-up brand is known for speaking publicly about its position on politics and social issues.

It launched its Anti-Fascism Pledge shortly after President Trump was elected and promised to never knowingly sell to a Trump supporter.
