Influencer with acne ‘really hurt’ after being dropped by L’Oréal for upcoming project

Acne sufferer Kadeeja Khan, who posts as @emeraldxbeauty, was rejected by the beauty company because of her ‘skin issues’

I know many people are asking about what happened with ‘L’Oreal’. I’ve been getting a ton of direct messages about it. Why I haven’t uploaded properly in the last 2 days. I know some people won’t understand what I’m trying to say. Some ‘makeup influences’ trying to start on me for speaking the truth. Truly it did put me in a dark place. I’ve come on this platform to show everyone who I am & what I’m about. I’m trying my best to shine the light on the things that matter. Show everyone that ‘yes you don’t have to be perfect! Love yourself regardless’. I’m already use to ‘trolls’ trying & bring me down. But coming from a global international brand? .. Really hurt. It honestly made me feel like their really isn’t any room in the industry for people like me. It made me feel that “your worth it” ... ONLY if your perfect. However that has given me fuel. Fuel to continue to show you that your beautiful no matter what ANYONE says. That even if it’s someone so huge & big. It still means NOTHING. Never stop loving yourself for who you are & NEVER change. 💖💖 (p.s thanks for the article @dailymail) 👉🏻

An acne sufferer and Instagram influencer has had a L’Oréal work offer withdrawn because of her ‘skin issues’.

On her Instagram page, Kadeeja Khan, 21, who posts as @emeraldxbeauty, shared an email which stated that L’Oréal could not ‘be involved with people with skin issues’.

The email was sent after Khan had already agreed to work with L’Oréal to help promote the launch of a new vegan hair dye range, according to Sun Online.

After going quiet for two days, Khan later shared her thoughts with her 128k followers.

She wrote: “I’m already use to ‘trolls’ trying & bring me down. But coming from a global international brand? .. Really hurt.

L’Oréal responds

L’Oréal stated: ““We deeply apologise for any upset caused, and have made direct contact with the individuals involved to clarify this unfortunate misunderstanding.

“The photoshoot was designed to support a new hair colour launch and feature hairdressers and lifestyle bloggers.

“Unfortunately, a misunderstanding resulted in the agency casting bloggers with skin concerns for this shoot.

“This resulted in the wrong profile being cast, which was then poorly and insensitively communicated to the individuals concerned.

“We do not have regulations in place that restrict us from working with people with skin conditions.

“At L’Oréal we work with women and men with all skin types and celebrate beauty in all its diversity.”
