Innovation lies at the core of the cosmetics industry with major manufacturers reformulating or replacing 25 per cent of their products each year. To promote the value of innovation, in-cosmetics 2014 has partnered with personal care giant Beiersdorf to invite exhibitors to pitch their most forward-thinking initiatives as part of a new ‘ideas contest’.

The Beiersdorf Innovation Pitch is an original concept that acts as an extension of the company’s already successful open innovation tool – Pearlfinder. Exhibitors to in-cosmetics can submit their ideas online with the most creative projects selected to go through to the next stage – a ‘dragon’s den’ style pitch at in-cosmetics, which takes place from 1 – 3 April 2014. The three best submissions will be announced at an awards ceremony on 2 April, with these winners receiving a Beiersdorf backstage pass and guided tour of the company’s R&D facilities on 3 April.

Beiersdorf is on the hunt for innovative ideas across a range of categories including face care, sun care and body care with the goal of integrating scientific and technological excellence into its current innovation processes. Single ingredients, appealing concepts, novel technologies and innovative formulations that match the company’s vision to be at the forefront of the industry will be considered by Beiersdorf’s R&D teams.
