Social media platform Instagram has agreed to ban images of self-harm on its site after objections were raised in the UK following the suicide of a teenage girl whose father said the photo-sharing platform had contributed to her decision to take her own life.

Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri said the platform is making a series of changes to its content rules, including graphic and non graphic images of self-harm and that further changes to its content xx will be made in the coming months.
