Inter Parfums inks Shanghai Tang deal

Establishes Hong Kong subsidiary to manage business for the Chinese luxury brand, which it says has the potential to be a ‘global beauty brand’

Inter Parfums, Inc. has announced that its newly created Hong Kong subsidiary, Inter Parfums USA Hong Kong Limited, has entered into a 12-year exclusive worldwide licence, which commenced 1 July, to create, produce and distribute perfumes and related products under Shanghai Tang, China’s leading luxury brand.

The company says it plans to launch its first fragrance under the Shanghai Tang brand in spring 2014.

“China is a strategic priority for Inter Parfums and as this is an important new relationship for us we have establishes a new subsidiary in Hong Kong, Inter Parfums USA Hong Kong Limited, to manage the global operations of the Shanghai Tang brand,” commented Jean Madar, Chairman and CEO of Inter Parfums, Inc. “Shanghai Tang translates China’s rich history with a vibrant sophistication that reflects the contemporary Chinese ‘art de vivre’. Founded in 1994, Shanghai Tang currently boasts a contemporary lifestyle offer including apparel and accessories for men, women and children as well as home collections.

Shanghai Tang’s Executive Chairman, Raphael Le Manse, said he hoped the expansion of the Shanghai Tang universe would be “complemented by a growing intrigue and appetite for Chinese culture globally”.
