A decision on the new owner of the cosmetics brand founded by Dame Anita Roddick is expected in the summer

The latest company to join the list of suitors to acquire L’Oréal-owned The Body Shop is Italian private equity firm Investindustrial, Reuters reports.

The Italian company headed up by Andrea Bonomi is said to have confirmed that it has placed a bid for the high street retailer and cosmetics brand.

Reuters reports Bonomi said: “We are trying (to buy it) and if we manage to do so, we hope a woman will lead it.”

The Body Shop is said to have attracted approximately 15 bids from interested parties.

Several of these, including Brazil’s Natura Cosmeticos, were reportedly progressed to the next round in mid-April.

Bloomberg said that binding offers are due in June.
