J-beauty brand inks exclusive retail deal with Harrods

The luxury retailer will welcome hair care brand uka to its fifth floor Hair & Beauty Salon

J-beauty hair care brand uka has landed an exclusive retail deal with luxury retailer Harrods.

The beauty brand will now feature on the retailer’s fifth floor in its Hair & Beauty Salon space.

Uka will join luxury brands including Dolce&Gabbana, Givenchy, Tom Ford, Armani and Burberry.

Entering Harrods in the initial line-up will be the brand’s uka Scalp Cleansing Deep & Light, Shampoo Wake up!, Hair Treatment Wake up!, Shampoo Nighty night, Hair Treatment Nighty night, Rebirth Serum for Scalp, Energy Shampoo for Men, One Week Shampoo, Hair Oil Windy Lady, Hair Oil Rainy Walk, Hair Oil Mist On the Beach, Scalp Brush Kenzan and Scalp Brush Kenzan Soft.

Talking about the new listing, Harrods’ Head of Beauty, Mia Collins, said: “Uka is a brand we spotted on one of our research trips to Japan.

“The brand’s ethos resonated with us and we are delighted to be launching them exclusively in the UK as part of our Hair & Beauty Salon edit, on the fifth floor.”

Uka, which means the hatching of a pupa into a butterfly, opened its first barbershop in Tokyo in 1947 under the current Chairperson’s grandfather, before developing into an all-round beauty salon in 1997.

In 2009 it launched its first product range, a collection of nail oils, and entered into the café business a year later.

Today, it has launched seven collections across hair and skin care.
