Japanese patent office grants IBR patent, claiming IBR-Phyto(flu)ene for skin whitening

This invention relates to the use of carotenoid preparations for promoting skin whitening.


IBR's Japanese Patent Application entitled CAROTENOID COMPOSITIONS USEFUL FOR WHITENING SKIN has been GRANTED four months after it was granted in the USA

This invention relates to the use of carotenoid preparations for promoting skin whitening. Particularly, this invention discloses that a combination of phytoene and phytofluene (IBR colorless carotenoids) is effective in whitening skin. The patent application further relates to carotenoid compositions comprising a combination of phytoene and phytofluene effective in whitening skin and at least one additional carotenoid.

"This additional patent to be issued now in Japan, joining the series of patents and applications in IBR's portfolio related to the colourless carotenoids (phytoene and phytofluene) including corresponding patent application recently allowed in the USA.
