Jean-Marc Plisson joins Shiseido to lead Beauty Prestige Group

Ex-LVMH executive joins rival Shiseido

Shiseido has announced the appointment of Jean-Marc Plisson as Head of the newly created Beauty Prestige Group.

Beauty Prestige Group includes several premium US businesses such as a number of designer fragrances and Laura Mercier. NARS and Bare Escentuals meanwhile will continue to operate separately.

Plisson has more than 20 years experience in the luxury cosmetics sector. He has previously served as CEO at LVMH-owned Fresh and is credited with driving the brand’s development into a top seller worldwide. He has also held senior positions at fellow LVMH brands Dior, Givenchy, Guerlain and Aqua di Parma.

Plisson will work with business leaders across the group, helping to maintain each brand’s positioning while maximising growth opportunities.

One priority will be integrating the Dolce & Gabbana business and growing sales. Plisson will also focus on expanding the Shiseido brand in the US and implementing a worldwide growth strategy for Laura Mercier.

Plisson will report to Marc Rey, President and CEO at Shiseido Americas. Rey commented: “I look forward to welcoming Jean-Marc to Shiseido. He is a standout talent in our industry. His leadership experience and stellar track record at LVMH will be great assets as we continue to grow our presence in the prestige beauty market.”
