Johnson & Johnson acquires NeoStrata and Exuviance

Takeover includes the rights to parent company TriStrata

Johnson & Johnson has acquired dermocosmetics firm NeoStrata Company, its affiliates and parent company TriStrata.

NeoStrata, which is based in the US, creates and markets a range of dermatologist-developed skin care products. Its brands include NeoStrata, NeoStrata Sin Active, Exuviance, Exuviance Age Reverse, CoverBlend and Psorent.

Jorge Mesquita, Worldwide Chairman, Consumer, Johnson & Johnson, explained the two companies would now work together to discover new skin care solutions. He said: “Drs Ruey Yu and Eugene Van Scott formed NeoStrata in 1988 and continue to make significant contributions to the science of skin care. NeoStrata's legacy in dermocosmetics will complement our global consumer portfolio and enable us to deliver advanced skin care brands to consumers around the world.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and the acquisition is subject to clearance. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2016.
