Kao poaches Debbie Rix from Revlon

Rix is appointed UK General Manager with responsibility for the UK consumer business

Kao (UK) Limited has poached a Revlon employee to drive forward its UK brand portfolio.

Debbie Rix has been appointed UK General Manager of Kao (UK) Limited and will be tasked with overseeing all aspects of the company’s UK consumer business. This includes taking charge of the complete portfolio of Kao brands, which comprises John Frieda Brands, Biore, Frizz-Ease, Molton Brown, KMS California, Sheer Blonde, Brilliant Brunette, Radiant Red, Luxurious Volume and Goldwell.

Rix joins Kao from Revlon, where she held the position of General Manager for the UK for four years. Rix has amassed more than 20 years of experience in strategic brand marketing. Speaking about her appointment at Kao, Rix said: “I am delighted to be joining Kao, a company with such a strong beauty heritage and brand portfolio, particularly at a time of exciting transformation for the John Frieda brand.”

Despite now working in the cosmetics industry, Rix started her career in fashion, managing brands including UK-based tights manufacturer Pretty Polly, and lingerie companies Playtex and Gossard. She also spent four years working in the US with Hanes, a North Carolina-based fashion apparel company.

Prior to Revlon, Rix worked on the high profile ‘Hello Boys’ Wonderbra campaign, which famously starred Czech model and actress Eva Herzigová. Today, Rix also sits on the Board of industry charity Look Good Feel Better, which works to support teenagers and adults dealing with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. In her new role at Kao, Rix will be based out of the company’s European headquarters in London, UK.

Kao (UK) Limited is a subsidiary of the Kao Brands Company, which has a global presence with operations in North America, the Middle East and Australia. Kao Brands is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kao Corporation, which is a Japanese manufacturer of personal are, cleaning products and specialty chemicals. Kao Corporation is headquartered in Tokyo.
