The Kumamoto Prefecture was hit by a series of earthquakes in April

Kao group is reaching out a helping hand to those affected by the Kumamoto earthquakes in Japan.

The damage of the quakes, which hit in April, is still being felt by survivors, many of whom are having to rebuild their lives and homes from scratch. Recent heavy rains in the area have not helped this process, with fatal landslides reported this week.

The cosmetics and personal care company has been delivering ‘daily necessities’ packages since 14 June to approximately 88 temporary housing units in the town of Mashiki in the Kumamoto Prefecture. It also plans to deliver packs to temporary housing units to be constructed within the areas of Kumamoto Prefecture.

The packs contain 11 daily-use items including hand wash and toothbrushes. The products were selected based on the most frequent requests from people living in the region. Kao Group has also provided financial aid and other product donations.

In a release, Kao noted: "Kao Group expresses our deepest compassion to the people suffering from the recent earthquakes in and around Kumamoto Prefecture. We sincerely wish for an early recovery for everyone in the stricken areas."
