Pop-up shop created online for new fragrance
Katy Perry has used a pop-up Twitter store to launch her newest fragrance, Mad Potion. The singer sold the scent exclusively on the social media site’s new e-commerce platform under the username @KatyPerryPopUp before its official launch in stores.
Followers could purchase the £29.99 scent directly without leaving the Twitter site by using the Buy Now button. The e-commerce tool was added to the social site in a US trial last September. After clicking the button, users are taken to a payment and delivery screen – any details they enter will be kept on file to make future Twitter purchases quicker.
The platform has previously been harnessed by the beauty industry, with Burberry launching a limited edition nail polish on Twitter for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015.
Followers of @KatyPerryPopUp were also offered exclusive Katy Perry content and news throughout the pop-up event. The store tweeted hints about the fragrances top notes, with apple musk, glowing amber and mexican vanilla bean all suggested.
