Lipotec has introduced a new ingredient to target oily skin types, particularly Asian complexions.
MATMARINE, an extracellular polymeric substance derived from bioprocesses from a Pseudoalteromonas strain developed through BIOINTEC blue biotechnology, has been developed to deal with hyper-secretion, minimising the imperfections associated with increased sebum, such as spots, enlarged pores and a predisposition to acne.
The activity of the new biotechnological active ingredient decreases the protein levels of melanocortin-5 receptor (MC5-C), as shown in vitro, a key promoter found in mature sebocytes, and responsible for sebum secretion and lipid storage.
MATMARINE works by inducing the synthesis of type I collagen, reinforcing skin’s firmness and cohesion, contributing to a reduction in pore size and, consequently, sebum epidermal secretion. In addition to its sebum-normalising and firming properties, MATMARINE can also regulate genes related to the inflammatory and antioxidative processes linked to increased sebum secretion.
