Directed by Silas Howard the documentary reveals the daily lives of transgender people in the US
MAC has commissioned a new documentary exploring the issues faced by transgender people.
More Than T features seven members of the transgender community and depicts their daily lives as well as their passions and hopes.
Available exclusively in the US via Showtime, the film aired last month and is now available on the network’s catch up service.
The colour cosmetics company hired transgender director Silas Howard (Transparent and Sunset Stories) to create the film.
“I was thrilled with MAC’s decision to work with a transgender director on this project,” said Howard.
“It’s an important and critical step to tell stories from someone who is a part of that world, and it reinforces their dedication to championing these voices.”
The funding for the project was supplemented by the brand’s charitable arm MAC Aids Fund, which has raised more than $450m since its inception in 1994.
“MAC has always been an activist brand, deeply dedicated to ending stigma, championing inclusion, and supporting the LGBTQ community,” said Nancy Mahon, Senior Vice President of MAC Cosmetics and Global Executive Director of the MAC AIDS Fund.
“MAC’s commitment to the transgender community is a reflection of the brand’s values -- from the artists in our stores to the customers that we are so proud to serve every day.”
