‘A Wrinkle in Time’ actress will lend her voice for the cosmetic giant’s Brave Together initiative

L’Oréal owned beauty brand Maybelline New York has tapped 17-year-old Storm Reid as its latest spokesmodel.

The actress’ earliest role in the Academy Award-winning historical blockbuster 12 Years a Slave, in which she played Emily, landed her a place on the international stage at the tender age of ten.

Her next major role was as Tina, in science-fiction drama film Sleight in 2016, starring Jacob Latimore and Dule Hill.

Since then, she has gone on to appear in fantasy film A Wrinkle in Time and latterly in horror films Don’t Let Go and The Invisible Man.

Next in her acting career she will star in DC Comics’ The Suicide Squad, which is expected to hit screens later this year, alongside Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.

Rising to stardom at an early age, Reid has strived to become a voice for younger generations.

Through her social initiative Bamazing, which aims to empower Gen Zs, she has campaigned for racial equality, mental health and inclusivity.

Working with Maybelline, the production company founder will embrace her advocacy voice for the colour cosmetics giant.

She will lend her platform to back Maybelline’s Brave Together initiative, supporting those who suffer with anxiety and depression, as well as the brand’s ongoing diversity work.

“Storm is a stand-out voice and changemaker,” said Maybelline New York’s Global Brand President, Trisha Ayyagari.

“She is a deeply talented actress, a courageous champion of equality and has energy that lights up any room.

“I’ve always admired Storm and knew she would be a great addition to the Maybelline brand.”

The American native joins supermodel and beauty face Gigi Hadid, who was signed as the brand’s spokesmodel in 2015, Adrianna Lima and China’s Estelle Chen.

“Maybelline has been in my family for as long as I can remember,’ said Reid.

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter with Maybelline where I will be able to use my voice to champion young women and my generation through my work with the brand.”

In Reid’s first appearance for the brand she will step out for its Fit Me franchise, expected to debut this summer.
