Skin checking app Miiskin has donated £5000 to the British Skin Foundation, the result of its Eyes On Your Skin campaign to raise awareness of skin cancer.

This February, the company donated £1 to the charity for every download of the Miiskin app in the UK, up to a maximum of £5000.

Jon Friis, CEO and Founder of Miiskin, said: “Miiskin is delighted to make this donation to the British Skin Foundation in the fight against cancer.

“We will continue to work together to spread the message that detecting changes to your skin and moles can be crucial in catching skin cancer early and photos are a good way to identify changes.”

The Miiskin app helps consumers to keep an eye on their skin and moles by taking a snapshot of the user's skin's appearance, and providing reminders to check regularly for any changes.

Phil Brady, Head of Partnerships at the British Skin Foundation, added: “This is a great start to our combined effort in the fight against skin cancer.

“The Miiskin app encourages regular self-examination of the skin and moles, which is essential for skin health, as specified by leading experts.

“We will use the donation to spread the message about the importance of keeping an eye on your skin to more people.”

Early detection is said to be the best defence against skin cancer, which is the most common form of cancer in the UK with 100,000 new cases diagnosed every year.
