Mixed results from Shiseido group\'s first three quarters

Figures show increased sales overall

The group posted consolidated net sales of ¥535.4bn, up 10.4% from the previous corresponding periods.

Despite healthy performances by all of the company's core brands, sales in the Domestic Cosmetics Business segment edged down 0.4%, to ¥251.2bn.

Internationally, the company benefited from solid performances by the global Shiseido brand and make-up artist brand NARS, as well as an expanding fragrance business in Europe.

Segment sales grew just 0.3% on a local-currency basis, due mainly to a year-on-year sales decline in Chinese business. However, after translation into yen, segment sales rose 22.7%, to ¥276.bn, owing to the yen’s depreciation.
