Momentive expands manufacturing and development centre in India

Move is to serve the growing Indian market


Momentive Performance Materials is to expand its manufacturing facility and application development centre in Chennai, India, as part of a drive to grow business in the area. The plant, which opened in 2009, currently manufactures high-end specialty silicones. The move follows the announcement in 2011 that Momentive will open a regional headquarters and global R&D centre in Bangalore later this year.

“This investment represents a major step forward in our ability to grow the silicones business in Indian,” said Craig O Morrison, ceo, Momentive. “This expansion will bring some of the most sophisticated technology and manufacturing processes that Momentive has developed worldwide to the Chennai facility and considerably enhance our ability to serve customers across the region.”
