Murad tackles pores and flaws

US skin care brand Murad is due to launch two new products that contain RepleniCell, a new hydration technology exclusive to the brand.

The first, Murad Rapid Collagen is said to boost collagen and hydration levels for plumper skin in two hours, as well as fighting fine lines and wrinkles. According to the brand, it is also the first product to penetrate the skin with pure collagen. The collagen molecule, up until now, has been too large to penetrate the skin, however, the company has discovered a way to break an intact collagen protein down into its components of amino acids that are small enough.

Meanwhile, Murad Pore & Line aims to tackle pores and wrinkles in one product. This follows a survey carried out by Murad on 1,240 women aged between 21-49, which revealed that pores and wrinkles are now both top skin care concerns for women. Other key ingredients in the product include: Kombucha Collagen Defense, which stimulates collagen production and inhibits its breakdown; lentil seed extract and witch hazel, which tighten pores and help control excess oil; and cinnamon extract, which restores the skin's surface by reducing inflammation and oil production.

RepleniCell technology is based on a blend of osmolytes, select amino acids and trehalose to pre-treat the water phase of all Murad formulations, in order to transform water in a high performance solution that optimises intra-dermal water levels. The technology helps to attract, bind and retain water in the skin.

Murad Rapid Collagen will be available from February 2014 for £78, while Murad Pore & Line will launch in October for £49.50.
