Company tie-up to boost nanoparticle-based UVA and UVB sunscreens

NanoBioMagnetics Inc (NBMI) and Nanomaterials SA have entered into an agreement that will expand global manufacturing and commercialisation opportunities for both companies in the area of active UVA/UVB sunscreens based on nanoparticles.

Under the agreement, Nanomaterials will acquire from NBMI part of the intellectual property and production assets for the manufacture and marketing of the physical sunscreen sunVex.

Developed by NBMI, sunVex is an active sunscreen ingredient based on nanoparticles. The company will continue to retain rights on some cosmetic applications which will be marketed via its subsidiary XetaComp Nanotechnolgy LLC.

NBMI president, Charles Seeney, comments: “The interest in physical sunscreen continues to grow as consumers become more aware of the negative effects of even casual exposure to UV radiation.

“This agreement is very significant for our company and we are very pleased and fortunate to have this relationship with Nanomaterials and we look forward to working with the company, looking at global business opportunities.”
